Launched in 2016, Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) Foundation created the Bear Necessities program as a way to provide added comfort to patients. Each gift of a Bear Necessity is a symbol to a patient that someone is thinking about them in their time of need.
Last year, we raised over $100,000 and more than 2,000 bears were given to patients at MSH. With your support, we hope to expand the program to ensure every patient receives a bear hug - a tender touch of care for the tiniest patients in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), to those brave individuals fighting cancer, or recovering from a difficult surgery. Your commitment to join this movement will help make a patient’s hospital stay a little more BEARable.
By joining the MSH Bear Squad, the donations raised by you and your team will help purchase a cuddly teddy bear, warm blanket, or soft sleep sack to provide comfort to more patients and help make their stay a little more bearable.
